Chandigarh: With global warming posing a threat for the real, and rapid urbanization mounting pressure on land, making it scarcer and pricier, it’s time to go in for ‘green and intelligent buildings.’
Going by this concept, the Chandigarh Housing Board plans to construct its green and intelligent building, the first-of-its-kind in the region.
A green and intelligent building, according to experts in construction space, is one that uses less water, optimises energy efficiency, helps conserve natural resources, generates less waste and provides healthier space for its occupants. Finance secretary, Sanjay Kumar said the administration has given its nod to the project. Around 3.26 acre along the Madhya Marg, had already been allotted to the Chandigarh Housing Board for the construction of its office, a spokesman said here on Friday.
The proposed building will have a covered area of around 1,53,000 square feet.
